Data and research
Datasets this site compiled about crawl space conditions across the Raleigh-Durham area, with their method, limits and a reuse license.
This section publishes only data this site actually compiled. The price ranges elsewhere on the site are other publishers' work - read off their pages, cited on ours, and deliberately not redistributed here as though they were our research. What is ours is the community layer: which permitting office genuinely has jurisdiction where, what this site covers, and the researched local conditions behind each city page.
Everything published here is under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). Free to use, republish and build on, including commercially, as long as you credit the source and link back to the dataset page.

What this section does not have, and why
Three of the four things a researcher would most want from a site like this are missing. In every case the reason is that the data does not exist or is not ours, rather than that nobody got round to it.
-
What Triangle crawl space work actually sells for
Real quoted prices from real jobs, described by crawl space size, access and scope, published as a distribution rather than a range.
Why not. This site holds no quote data at all. Every figure on the cost pages is read from somebody else’s published guide, which /cost/methodology/ states at length along with what would have to be true before a real-quote dataset could be published. Until those conditions are met there is nothing here to publish, and publishing the cost guides as though they were our own data would be passing off other people’s research.
-
Measured crawl space humidity across the Triangle
Logged relative humidity readings from crawl spaces across the metro, by season and by whether the space is vented or closed.
Why not. The 70-85% summer figure this site cites is a general characterization of an open crawl space in this climate, not a measurement series. Publishing a humidity dataset would need loggers in real crawl spaces over at least a full cooling season, with the homes described. Nobody has done that here, and modelling it from weather-station data would produce numbers about the outdoors rather than about crawl spaces.
-
Crawl space permit fees and turnaround by jurisdiction
What a closed-crawl-space permit costs and how long it takes in each Triangle jurisdiction.
Why not. Which office has jurisdiction is already published in the dataset above. Fees and turnaround are set per jurisdiction, several are not published online, and a table assembled by phone would go stale without anyone noticing. Not published until there is a way to keep it current.
Citing or reusing this
Attribution and a link to the dataset page is all that is asked. If you are writing something that depends on a figure here, the dataset page states how each field was compiled and what it cannot tell you - worth reading before you build on it. How the site handles sourcing generally is set out in the editorial policy.
